Edith F. Rising

Edith F. Rising, 1944, Stockholm

Edith F. Rising was a young lady who worked for the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) alongside my mother during World War II.  In London  they were under William T. “Bill” Carlson, head of the Stockholm desk.  Their area of the OSS was X-2, Counterespionage.  Attractive, dark hair, probably in her twenties.

In April of 1944 Carlson and Rising both traveled to Stockholm to set up X-2 in Stockholm. My mother followed them in August, whenever a suitable replacement for Carlson had been found.

Many times I have posted photos and appeals for help in finding important people who were “there.”  It’s been such a thrill when all of a sudden I get an email that reads, “I am his nephew.” “He was my Dad.”

So once again … I am searching for clues, for Edith Rising, and I assume that was her maiden name.
