Carl Rosenblad

As always, I hope that someone from Sweden will see this post and be able to help me. Please comment freely! THANKS, Pat

Captain Carl Rosenblad, Sweden 1944

Captain Carl Rosenblad, Sweden 1944 ~ on the right

Another gentleman who, along with Count Folke Bernadotte and seven others, together gave a wedding gift to my parents was “Ryttmästare Carl Rosenblad.”  The word Ryttmästare Google translates to “Captain.”

My parents were also invited to dine with Captain Rosenblad shortly after they were married. This would have been in January of 1945.  The address I have for Rosenblad at that time is Interneringsläger ne IV, Korsnäs.

In the photo,  Captain Rosenblad is on the right. To the left is General Axel Ljungdahl.

What I have found in my “googling” is that “Carl Axel Eberhart Rosenblad” (August 25, 1886 – January 24, 1953) was a Swedish horse rider who competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics.

The age would be about right.

Is this the same gentleman who was in the Swedish Military in 1944?

Update December 7, 2011: I have received information from a gentleman in Sweden who confirmed that the Carl Rosenblad my Dad knew was an expert horseman. In fact, he was part of the Kungliga Livregementet till häst (Royal Life Regiment on horseback.) He was also a Board member of the Central Board of “Svenska blå stjärnan” (the Swedish blue star, a voluntary military organization for veterinarians.) Thank you, Simon, for this update.

He is my uncle and is the gentleman on the right. My brother has a portrait of him in uniform
