Col. Herman F. Allen 1916-2011
It is done. Our Dad joined our Mom at 3:20 on Thursday morning. It is what he was praying for.
Col. Herman F. Allen was buried on Sunday, May 29, 2011 with military honors at historic Elmwood Cemetery in Columbia, SC.
He wrote about it in 2006.
MY NEW WORLD
I opened the door to my new world and visioned, with the amazed sense of the unknown, a vastness and brightness far beyond the limits of my imagination.
Slowly I entered. There were no streets or roads to greet me. A maze of beautiful flowers of all varieties and descriptions, trees slowly waving their long thin cluttered limbs encircled with a horizon of bright blue Intertwined with the gray of morning light surrounded me.
God’s world was ready to engulf me in its twists and turns of a new beginning. The smiling face of a welcoming angel appeared and beckoned me to follow.
The path entwined with the distant view.
I had no fear. God was near.
