A Woman in Berlin, WWII movie
(2008) This is a true story, based on a book written by a woman who wanted to remain anonymous because she feared political and social aftereffects. (Her name was leaked out after her death.)
When the Red Army occupied Berlin at the end of the war, Berlin was inhabited by primarily women, children, and elderly men. The movie shows how the women suffered and survived the horrors (the rapes!) brought about by the invaders.
All in German with English subtitles but no problem … I was enraptured by this movie after just a few moments.
