(1943) In this British drama, a beautiful London socialite with obvious Nazi sympathies has to flee to Canada. To be honest, I had a hard time understanding what was going on. What I appreciated is that because it was filmed at about the time that it was actually happening it was probably a realistic portrayal of this slice of British life.
Who were spies and whose side were they on?
I enjoyed watching Anna Neagle again, and Richard Greene, who was at the time on furlough from the British army, was adorable.
The ending came together a little too conveniently I thought. I did pay close attention when the characters were talking about a supposed plot to sabotage the Queen Mary which happened to be the ocean liner which carried my Dad from the US to Great Britain in November of 1944.
