Stadshuset ~ Stockholm’s City Hall on a 1945 postcard

Stadshuset is Stockholm’s magnificent City Hall.  Designed by architect Ragnar Ostberg, it was finished in 1923 and sits on the waters of the bay named Riddarfjärden. This is where the Nobel Peace Prize banquet is held each year. (Update …see comments: Each year the Nobel Prize banquet is held in this City Hall, but the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony is held in Oslo, Norway.)

In May of 1945, Hedy wrote to her mother … She would pass the Stadshuset as she rode to and from the American Legation and OSS offices at Strandvägen 7. I assume she rode 4 times each day because she went home to dress for evenings out and about.
I live about 6 blocks past Stadshuset and ride the train 4 times a day, usually, past it … except when I am lazy and hail a cab. (Hedvig Johnson)

The area has grown a bit since 1945. Enjoyed the webcams.
