(1968) This movie is about a young man who returns home after three years in the infantry to see that his parents are still unable to get along. The movie feels like a play. Most of the action takes place in the family’s apartment. And, in fact, it was based on the award-winning Broadway play of the same name that also starred Martin Sheen and Patricia Neal.
So, the fact that the son had been at war was just a detail. The focus was on the family.
