In Our Time, WWII Movie starring Ida Lupino and Paul Henreid
(1944) Ida Lupino is an English shopgirl who is traveling with her employer, an antiques dealer. She meets a dashing Polish Count played by Paul Henreid, who two years earlier had played Ingrid Bergman’s husband in Casablanca. In fact, in the movie’s trailer (see below) “In Our Time” is compared to that movie.
It’s not Casablanca.
I enjoyed the history of what was happening. The story takes place in 1939, right before the Nazis invade Poland. The radio announcer is assuring everyone that the Germans will not go to war against them.
The story ends as they watch Warsaw burn over the horizon.
