The Great Raid, WWII Movie starring Benjamin Bratt
(2005) Although this movie did not get great rave reviews across the board, I guarantee that anyone with a connection to the story of the 1945 rescue of the 500+ Bataan Death March survivors being held captive by the Japanese at Cabanatuan in the Philipines will love it.
The Great Raid is based on a book of the same name by William B. Bruer. And it is the same subject as the book Ghost Soldiers which I wrote about in May 2009.
At the end of the movie you read on the screen that “The raid on Cabanatuan remains the most successful rescue mission in U.S. Military History.”
A story well worth remembering.
