(1997) 30 minutes into this movie, I was hoping that it was a true story. And it is … a group of women are imprisoned by the Japanese after the fall of Singapore in 1942. They are in a concentration camp in Sumatra. As soon as the film ended, I went to google maps to see where is Sumatra!
Many of them do survive the ordeal, and some are still alive today … inspiring this moving story.
