Into the White, a WWII movie set in Norway

(2012) In the early days of World War II two airplanes, one from Great Britain and one from Germany, crash in the vast snowy wilds of Norway. Their crews converge in a small deserted hunters’ cabin where the two groups have to learn to somehow live together in order to survive. It was interesting to see how the behavior of the Germans contrasted with that of the Brits. Close bonds were formed although not everyone approved.

What was fascinating is that the film is based on a true story. The two pilots actually met again in 1977. Both are now deceased.

Into the White was filmed in Norway and in Sweden and “the white” is a great visual of what the men of both sides had to endure in that part of the world.
