Chain Lightning

Chain Lightning, WWII Movie starring Humphrey Bogart

(1950) After World War II is over, a B-17 pilot becomes the chief test pilot for an aircraft company that is designing experimental jet planes.  The screenplay was c0-written by Vincent B. Evans, the bombardier on the B-17 Memphis Belle.

The pilot, played by Humphrey Bogart, is a skilled daredevil. For me the best part of the movie was in the beginning when he is flying the B-17 with a guest in the cockpit … an airplane designer who didn’t believe there should be any problems with the B-17.

The rest of the movie would have been interesting to someone who had a knowledge of what was happening in airplane development at the time. Reference was made to Chuck Yeager having just broken the sound barrier.

As you can tell from the trailer (below) the movie paid more attention to the girl than to the airplane.
