Escape in the Desert, WWII Movie starring Philip Dorn
(1945) This movie is a remake of the 1936 film, “The Petrified Forest” which was adapted from Robert Sherwood’s smash hit on Broadway starring newcomer Humphrey Bogart, Leslie Howard, and Bette Davis. All three also starred in the movie.
All that being said, this remake just didn’t cut it. It was more like a western than a war movie. Except for “Grandpa” played by Samuel S. Hinds, the characters just weren’t convincing.
The best part of the movie is that it was only about 80 minutes long.
