Tonight and Every Night, WWII Movie starring Rita Hayworth
(1945) Rita Hayworth, Lee Bowman, and Janet Blair star in this musical released in January of 1945. The setting is a London theater which has not missed one performance in spite of the bombings. The story will keep your interest, and the musical numbers are wonderful … in particular the Marc Platt dance audition.
What I enjoyed most was visualizing what the London musical theater was like in 1944 when Hedvig, my mother, was there. She was working for the OSS, and said that she went to every musical. She also took turns standing watch on the rooftop of her office building, looking out for the fires caused by the bombings of the Baby Blitz.
