Submarine Raider

Submarine Raider, WWII movieThe action takes place on December 6th and 7th, 1941.   A Japanese aircraft carrier is bound for Pearl Harbor as the devious captain divulges their plans to attack Pearl Harbor.  En route, they spy an American yacht, sink it, killing all the survivors except for one beautiful woman.  She jumps into the ocean from her lifeboat to escape the guns from a Japanese plane overhead, intent on killing her.  After the pilot flies away, she handily hoists herself from the water back into the boat.

I was impressed.

Not long afterward, she is picked up by an American submarine and climbs aboard.  I was entranced by how fabulous she looked.  Her white dress was spotless and unwrinkled.  Her hair must have dried quickly into the same do as before.  The captain obviously was immediately smitten because he allowed her to be present at every military conversation onboard.

It was over quickly.  I enjoy watching submarine movies.  The captain was unable to warn Pearl that unfriendly Japanese were en route, but he did sink the aircraft carrier.

Gentlemen, I’ll give you a toast … a toast to the Japanese Navy. Bottoms up! (John Howard as Captain Warren, after sinking the Japanese aircraft carrier.)
