The Night of the Generals, WWII movie starring Peter O’Toole and Omar Sharif
(1967) The book that this movie was based on was written by a German World War II veteran. A prostitute is murdered, and an investigator tries to find out who did it. He (a wonderfully young Omar Sharif) believes it was a Nazi General! Which one?
During the first half of the movie, I had a hard time following which General was doing what.
Then all of a sudden there were familiar scenes: Field Marshal Rommel’s auto was bombed, the failed assassination attempt of Hitler on July 20, 1944, (Valkyrie) and I started to pay better attention, particularly to Peter O’ Toole whose performance was compelling.
