30 Dec Suicide Battalion
(1958) Mike Connors starred in Suicide Battalion, the film’s first working title being Hell Raiders. During World War II, he served in the Air Corps, and this movie came at the beginning of his movie career. The role I remember him for is Joe Mannix, the television detective, on the airwaves from 1967 to 1975.
I was hoping it might be a true story, possibly based on a real mission … It takes place on an island in the Pacific called Baluyanna, and I could find no evidence of such an island.
When I discovered that the writer of the screenplay also wrote The She-Creature and Dragstrip Girl, nothing World War II related, I quit searching.
I would still be grateful if someone told me otherwise. The men these actors played paid the ultimate price.
